The Contest

OK so it's taken some time but I've figured out our little contest sponsered by Purlescence.

All you need do is post your latest progress on your charity project on your blog, and post a comment directing us to your blog.

Do this by Friday, June 30th and you'll be entered. Winners will be chosen at random, by an impartial party.

Can't wait to see what you've been knitting!

World Cup Knitting!

Howdy World Cup Knitters!

What are you up to? What teams are you routing for? How are your projects coming along?

I started a Dulaan Hat just as the teams started play. I got a live feed from CNN of the opening kick and away I went. Photos to follow soon!

And I haven't posted anything! Pasha! Ack!

The Knitting World Cup(s) have been featured in a British newspaper online.

Check it out!

As to the new members, I'll be attending TNNA in Indiana this weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to add you all tonight before bed!

Update

Howdy All,

Thanks for joining up. The world cup start is only weeks away. Strangely enough it's the same weekend as World Knit in Public day and the TNNA conference of knitting wholesalers. The stars must be lined up well for knitters.

so here's a little questionnaire:

Are there any teams that you're cheering for?

Who do you think will win the world cup?

What will you be knitting for the Knit Along?

Will you be tackling any new techniques?

Is there a special reason you're knitting for a particular charity?

Answer on your blogs or in the comments!

Announcing the World Cup of Knitting!

This must be the year of international sport. Not only have we had the Olympics, but we now have the Soccer World Cup in June. I watched the last matches of the English Premier league this past weekend and I got a significant amount of knitting done. This got me to thinking. Could it be that the Knitting Olympics was just a warm up to the World Cup? Could knitters be once again united in a worldwide effort of knitting excellence?

------------

Thus I am announcing the Knitting World Cup.

This is your chance to achieve knitting greatness.

In the Knitting Olympics we proved that knitters can unite to achieve personal goals. Some knitters used this opportunity to knit for charity. What if we take this initiative and apply it to all World Cup Knitters? Not only would we be knitting our personal projects, but also gifts for charity.

The rules:

You must start your world cup knitting projects on the first day of World Cup Matches: Friday, June 9th after 9am Pacific Standard Time.

Your knitting project(s) must be something that can be donated to one of the following organizations:

Afghans for Afghans

Kaps 4 Karing

Hugs for Homeless Animals

OR a personal project that can be auctioned off on Ebay, with all proceeds going to Oxfam.

Projects must be finished by Saturday July 1st for mailing to the appropriate charity/ebay charity seller. Deadline for mailing is Saturday July 8th.

HOW TO JOIN:
Add a comment, or send an email to grenadinegirl at gmail dot com.
